What to expect at Mitre
Community Spirit

Mitre is a friendly, communal club.  We encourage members to become actively involved in the meetings and working bees; and the lodge manager and members to show a warm welcome as new guests arrive.  There are smiles and excitement in the morning.  Many members join together for a ski; even drinks, dinner and singalongs at the end of the day sharing stories and laughter.

Ski-in / Ski-out Location

Mitre Lodge is at the end of The Avenue, next door to the Navy Lodge. Being the last lodge on the road it offers exceptional views of the mountain ranges and provides ski-in / ski-out access to intermediate runs (Standard) or a short walk to the beginner areas and ski school. Free shuttle buses provide transport around the village, the closest bus stop is 2 lodges away – Bus Stop No.9.  Click here for village map.

Facilities

Mitre has communal lounge rooms, TV rooms, dining, kitchen and a large drying room. There are 12 bedrooms, made up of 2, 3, 4 or 5 berth rooms with a combination of doubles, singles and bunks. Check in

When you arrive at the lodge, either ring the doorbell or use the security code in your booking confirmation email to enter. Ski boots or outdoor boots must be left in the racks in the drying room before proceeding from the entrance foyer into the rest of the lodge. Your room allocation will also be on the whiteboard in the entrance foyer. If your room is unoccupied, you may shift your gear into it immediately. If it is occupied, place your gear in the day room until the room is free. The day room is the first room to the left where the skis are stored. Changeover time is by 5pm.

Check Out

When you depart, you are responsible for cleaning and tidying your room.  This includes wiping the basin and tiles and vacuuming the carpet.  Cleaning material can be found in the laundry on the lower level. In addition you need to remove food items, clean and wipe down your allocated pantry and fridge shelves in the kitchen.   This must be done by 5pm on the day of your departure. If you need to book a taxi the phone number is (03) 5777 6070.   You may not overstay your booking without agreement from the booking secretary. The member who arranged your booking must arrange the extension.

Your Responsibilities

The lodge and its furnishings and fittings are the property of all members.  Please respect this.  You are responsible for cleaning up after yourself (and your children) in the kitchen, dining, lounge areas and bathrooms (including hanging up bath mats). Pack dishes into the dishwashers, turn them on when full and please do your share of unpacking them. Other general 'housework' is the Lodge Manager’s responsibility, but it makes their job easier if everyone shows consideration.  Please also show consideration for others staying at the lodge, including childrens' bed times, teenagers and adults sleeping in.

Parking/Transport

If you are driving to Mt Buller you can either catch a bus from Mansfield or Merrijig at the foot of the mountain, or drive up the mountain and park in one of the overnight car parks.  If driving up the mountain, you pay all your fees at the gate in Merrijig as you enter the mountain.  This includes mountain entry fee, parking fee and over snow taxi transfer fees for transfer to/from carpark to Mitre.  They will also advise you if you need to fit chains.  Chains must be carried at all times until end of the season. You can hire them in Mansfield.

You then drive up the mountain where you will be directed to a car park. Please remember which carpark it is! It is advisable to lift your windscreen wipers off the windscreen and put anti-freeze in the radiator before you leave home.  Unload your car and wait for the over snow taxis to take you directly to Mitre. These operate Monday-Thursday 7am-midnight, Friday 7am-3am, Saturday 7am-2am and Sunday 7am-midnight.   For more information go to mtbulller.com.au/oversnow-taxis. If the driver does not know where the Mitre Lodge is, tell him it is next to Navy at the end of The Avenue.

Bookings OutSide of Ski Season

There are many non-winter activities at Mt Buller such as mountain biking, bush walking, horse riding, four-wheel driving, scenic chairlift rides and summer events.  The Lodge can be booked for individual or group use.  There is no Lodge Manager in residence outside of the main ski season, therefore you will need to make arrangements to obtain keys and familiarise yourself with the opening and closing procedures and security requirements.
